Deep Sea Fishing Boats are boats designed to go out at sea anywhere from 20 miles to 100 miles or more. In California deep sea fishing boats generally go after Bonita, Albacore, and bottom groupers. Occasionally they will hit a school of tuna during peak months. This is a great way to teach children about fishing and group participation. Deep sea fishing has been around along time and is extremely popular, especially on the West Coast.

A Bowrider, known as a Runabout, was the first boat I ever purchased. I found it easy to operate,and quickly became familiar with the nautical instruments and the onboard amenities, even as a novice.

Bowriders are great to use for recreation,and water sports boating, and family fun, the cockpit bucket seats are very comfortable, you can also chose to have back to back seating which is the best choice if you use your boat mainly for skiing, you may also want to chose an engine with a high amount of horse power that will make your ski outings more fun and add to the value of your Bowrider should you chose to sale it one day.

Bowrider Fishing Boats

There is a swim pad on the back, with an open bow area in the front where extra seats can easily be installed. Bowriders are between 17' and 30' feet. The size you chose should take into consideration the size of the body of water and the number of people you will usually be carrying on board, generally the boat can hold 6 to 10 people safely.

Bowriders are best suited for calm lakes and inland water ways. I have found when I took my Bowrider out on open choppy water you can get a little wet because of the absence of a low deck and a low transform. On the same token if you are out on your boat swimming or tubing you are going to get wet anyway so I never found that a problem.

The Bowrider is equipt with plenty of on board amenities, you have the choice to chose between two console configurations one to the starboard with the helm, or the one I choose to the port that which I was pleased to discover opened to reveal a marine toilet also known as a porta-potti.

There is also a cover on the Bowrider for early mornings or late evenings in case you may be feeling cool. The cover allows for long relaxing days out on the water.

You can run the Bowrider up on the trailer real easy, go forward, climb out and winch. It is simple to lower the anchor as well. I have owned my Bowrider for several years. I use it every summer

All in all in my opinion Bowriders are an excellent choice.

Whether you live in the cooler climates of the north or sultry, humid areas of the south, inland saltwater fishing is a fun way to spend the day! Trout, Red Fish, Snook, Bass, and Tarpon are my favorites to catch.

There are those days when the weather isn't cooperating and it's too dangerous to go off shore.
The perfect solution is to get the smaller boat and fish inshore. When it comes to fishing the creeks, canals, tidal marshes and bays, the best inshore saltwater fishing boats are those that can tread shallow water and are less than 25 feet in length.

Inshore Saltwater Fishing Boats

My favorite type of inland saltwater fishing boat is a flat bottom, so I can get up into the shallows near tree stumps and high grass. The trout love to hide near the shoreline near stumps. They only draw a few inches and are very inexpensive to make or buy.

Flat bottom boats are usually small, around 10 to 15 feet in length, with an open design made of aluminum, fiberglass or wood. They can comfortably hold up to four adults and are not made for rough or choppy conditions. You have the options of using oars or paddles or a small 30 hp outboard or tiller (trolling) motor when fishing this way.

Drift boats are another design made to drift along the rivers to get close to the banks and around the trees. These are the simplest of boats and have been for centuries. As the name implies, these boats are made to drift along the river banks and creeks where the fish are hiding. It's quiet so you can sneak up on them.

Anchors and oars are most important when using a drift boat. You need to anchor yourself and drift with the currents, while fishing.

One more boat to consider is the center console boat, or skiff, ranging from 15 feet to 25 feet. This type of boat allows the driver to stand in the middle and see where he is going. You can use this in a creek or river as well as an open inland lake or bay. This open boat has a canvas top for inclement weather and usually draws 3-6 inches of water.

So when fishing for inland saltwater fish, be sure to bring ice for the fishing wells, and a well stocked fishing tackle box.

Have fun on a sport fishing boat

A lot of times on a Saturday morning, I like to get up, hitch the boat trailer to my truck and just go spend a relaxing day fishing. I like the sport fishing boat as it can get me to my favorite spot rather quickly and then I can troll around or anchor when I find just the right spot. Most of the time I don't even care if I catch a fish at all, I am just enjoying being on the water and getting out of the hustle and bustle of everything.

Commercial fishing boats are vessels used for the capture of different fish and other seafood. There are three kinds of commercial fishing vessels: trawlers, seiners and line vessels. These three ships are what put seafood in the supermarkets around the world.

Trawlers are boats that use large fishing nets to take fish or other marine animals. The nets or trawlers are conned shaped and are usually towed by a boat or many, depending on their load. Trawler vessels are generally found on the North Sea where they are used to catch flat fish and shrimp. One or two vessels can be towed by each side of the net traveling at a speed of eight knots. One of the many advantages of the trawler is that it can operate in all weather conditions and is used for casting nets in very deep places.

Commercial Fishing Boats

The seiner vessels are generally large vessels but there’s also seiner vessels that can be as small as 10 feet like a canoe. In small size vessels a net is cast by hand. Large seiner vessels have state of the art mechanisms that cast the net in order to catch fish. Seiner vessels have large winches to pull out large quantities of fish.

Seiners can also be very sophisticated vessels. Some seiners are big enough that they have space to house a helicopter. The helicopter is used to spot fish schools. The seiner also has powerful sonar technology to find, follow and catch fish.

Line vessels use heavier fishing lines than the previous two. There are bottom long liners, mid water long liners and factory long liners. Mid water long liners are medium size vessels that operate worldwide. They are designed for optimum velocity to reach distant fishing schools and have enough energy for prolonged periods of activity.

Factory long liners are vessels that contain a plant were the fish are gut, filleted, packaged and stored. Fish are stored in frozen sea water tanks. The factory long liner is similar to a whale boat. The main difference is that the long liner is a modern vessel with state of the art equipment. A factory long liner can be as heavy as 100 tons.

Commercial fishing boats can be as small as a canoe or as large as a factory vessel. They are found in all the waters around the world. With their sophisticated equipment they move from area to area searching for schools of fish and other sea creatures.

The Five Essentials for Charter Fishing Boats

I'd finally gotten it: my dream vacation, the time, the money, and the buddy to go down to the Keys and take out a charter fishing boat. Growing up in the Midwest, I'd only seen and read about them. But that first time, it was going to be special.

And it was special, and I can laugh with the stories I can tell. But let me share with you, first, the five things I wish I'd known then:

1. Budget vs. Knowledge: I have the excuse of no Internet back then, so I can be forgiven for not knowing what questions to ask. But know your budget, and then research how to get the most out of it. When are you going (winter rates are premium)? Are you looking to keep the fish you catch? What about equipment? The best Captains and crews are also guides who will ask you these things; but their knowledge comes at a price.
2. Use the wisdom of crowds: The dream may be to be by yourself, but if you spend some time on "head boats", or large-group charters, you can learn a lot about fishing (including what NOT to do) from observing all those other people going after the same fish.
3. Location, location, location: At first I had my heart set on Florida charter fishing boats. Since then I've explored other places - Alaska for salmon runs, the beauty of St. Maartens, the inland waters with a personal guide teaching me how to entice bass with a fly. Not all charter fishing is in Miami!
4. Bigger is not always better: You may be tempted to go all out for the big marlin or some studly tuna. Keep in mind there is an art to sport fishing; a joy in the learning curve. Going after fish small enough to be hands-on will get you more into the true spirit of the dream.
5. Ask questions: Everybody, especially my younger self, has a fear of looking dumb. Remember that not asking questions is a surer path to idiocy than asking about things that later seem obvious. Of course you should tip the crew. No, sunscreen is not part of the boat's equipment. Sorry, the tarpon is not going to dress itself.

Ultimately, if you ask the right people the right questions, you'll be on the charter fishing boat of your dreams.
